Culinary Collective is an online learning platform we wish existed.
Producing both on demand, and live sessions that introduce it’s members to new and exciting recipes from around the world.
This content service would provide a framework for learning the necessary building blocks for home-cooks who want to level up their chef game without welcoming the stress that comes with commercial kitchens.
Our primary focus is delivering secure and reliable solutions for our clients. Speculative projects like this empower us to explore cutting-edge ideas, and refine those technologies before offering them to our clients.

The outcome was a 5 page demo showcasing the core aspects of the web-app:
- Account page for users to manage their subscription and lesson plan.
- Course page for users to browse live and on-demand lessons.
- Live Lesson for users to interact with the instructor during a session and cook along with them
- On-Demand Lesson for users to follow a pre-recorded lesson at their own pace
- Social discovery for users to browse lessons based on the photos shared by students.
The fruits of this labor were nothing short of delicious.
Over the 3 day sprint, our team designed a series of concepts, refining them through taste tests with friends and family, to craft an experience that hit the sweet spot for eager learners.
While Culinary Collective remained a concept, the project served as a rich learning experience for DesignThen.
This project was a fantastic learning experience. It highlighted the challenges of organising content for subscribers, designing engaging live sessions with a central presenter, and understanding the motivations of a platform with paying subscribers.
These are all vital insights we'll keep in mind for future projects.
